LOST NEWARK (PB)

In this book, local authors Jillian Campbell and Mike Cox step back in time and rediscover Newark’s lost buildings and architectural heritage. Newark has been a place of importance since medieval times when it became a major centre for wool and cloth production. The town grew around its 11th century castle which was later destroyed in 1646 during the Civil War. The town expanded again in Victorian times when several new industries were established, among them sugar refining, which is still in evidence today.
