CULLODEN: SCOTLANDS LAST BATTLE (HB)

Culloden Moor in 1746 was the last pitched battle fought on British soil. The defeat of the Jacobite army ended Stuart attempts to regain the throne; it also led to brutal reprisals against the Highlanders and the end of the clan system. Trevor Royle takes us beyond the battle as the men of the Royal Army, galvanized by success at Culloden, begin to fight overseas in America and India; we see the revolutionary use of fighting techniques first implemented at Culloden and the creation of professional fighting forces.
