FORGOTTEN FORESTS (PB)

Ancient trees, some over a thousand years old, are dotted around Britain and Ireland, the last survivors of a lost world. Today, scientific studies of these trees, of fossilised forests and of our oldest wooden artifacts, are helping us to build a picture of the woodlands that have disappeared from our landscapes. From Mesolithic hunter-gatherers to Neolithic farmers, and on into recorded history, this is an account of the connected transformation of nature and society.
