Without campaigning experience, funding or contacts, Hannah Bourne-Taylor sets out to save swifts in the UK. Her mission is to make 'swift bricks' in houses mandatory so that the birds will have a future. This is her account of the highs and lows of trying to win support, grab the news agenda, navigate meetings, survive trolling and midnight self-doubt, and raise a petition with 100,000 signatures for a Parliamentary debate. At stake, with a decline in numbers of over 60% since 1995, are the birds who are a symbol of summer.
