All Hallow’s Day, 1327. Slipping away from the cathedral city of Kingsbridge, four children witness two men-at-arms being killed. At the demand of the man responsible, they vow never to speak of it again. One boy travels the world, with an eye always turned back towards Kingsbridge; the other becomes a powerful and corrupt nobleman. One girl defies the might of the medieval church; the other pursues an impossible love. Yet the shadow of that fateful day continues to fall over them – and will compel them to act.
