ELEANOR: A 200 MILE WALK IN SEARCH/ ENGLANDS LOST QUEEN (HB)

In 1290, England mourned the death of a queen: Eleanor of Castile, beloved wife of King Edward I. Her body was carried on a 200-mile journey from Lincoln to London. Twelve stone crosses were erected to mark where the cortege rested. More than seven centuries later, historian Alice Loxton challenged herself to walk the entire route on the corresponding dates.
