Description
In the early years of Queen Victoria’s reign, HMS Erebus undertook two of the most ambitious naval expeditions of all time. On the first, she ventured further south than any human had ever been. On the second, she and HMS Terror set sail for the North-West Passage in 1845 and were last seen on 28 July 1845 secured to an iceberg. The last definite information is a message left by Captains Crozier and Fitzjames to say they were abandoned on 22 April 1848. The crew vanished in the wastes of the Canadian Arctic and their fate remained a mystery for over 160 years. Then, in 2014, Erebus was found. This is her story.
