PERFECT CHEMISTRY: PHOTOGRAPHS BY HILL AND ADAMSON (PB)

Producing highly skilled photographs just four years after the new medium was created in 1839, Hill and Adamson’s images offer a fascinating glimpse into early Victorian Scotland. Over four and a half years, until Adamson’s early death, they produced several thousand prints encompassing landscapes, architectural views, tableaux vivants from Scottish literature, portraits of Edinburgh society and social documentary of Newhaven fisherfolk.
