Description
Created in 1973 by the amalgamation of the Caledonian Steam Packet Company and David MacBrayne, Cal-Mac's black hulls and white toppings have become a part of the life of the Clyde estuary and the Western Islands and Highlands. Having started with much old tonnage, the fleet has been updated over the past decade. Alistair Deayton is an expert on West Coast steamers and here tells the Cal-Mac story right up to the present day.
